Law, Economy, and Society in Roman and Late Roman Times
American Academy in Rome · Villa Falconieri, Frascati
This two-day conference assembled international scholars around key themes of Roman history — free labor, entrepreneurship of enslaved individuals and women, legal fiction and social realities — from the late Republic to the end of the Empire. It brought together researchers from the traditions of Roman law, economics, and social history to discuss recent scholarly innovations and foster cross-disciplinary dialogue.
