Data controller
The data controller is Fondazione CASAM — The Center for Advanced Study of the Ancient Mediterranean, a non-profit foundation under Italian law (Fondazione di diritto privato senza scopo di lucro), with contact address c/o American Academy in Rome, Via Angelo Masina 5, 00153 Rome, Italy.
Requests concerning personal data may be addressed to the CASAM office:
What data are processed
Browsing data. As with every website, the hosting infrastructure that serves these pages records standard server logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested, date and time of the request. These data are processed for the sole purposes of operating the website and ensuring its security, on the basis of the Controller's legitimate interest, and are retained for the technical periods applied by the hosting provider.
Language preference. Your choice between English and Italian is stored only on your device (browser local storage). It is never transmitted to CASAM or to third parties.
Images served by a content delivery network. The photographs on this website are delivered by a content delivery network (Contentful CDN). Requesting an image technically communicates your IP address to that provider; no cookies are set by this service.
Data you choose to send. If you write to CASAM — for membership, donations or enquiries — the personal data contained in your message are processed solely to respond and to manage the resulting relationship, and are retained no longer than necessary for those purposes.
What this website does not do
This website sets no profiling cookies, uses no analytics or advertising tools, embeds no social-media trackers, and loads no third-party fonts. Should measurement tools ever be introduced, this notice and the cookie information will be updated beforehand and, where required, your consent will be requested.
Legal bases and transfers
Browsing data are processed on the basis of the Controller's legitimate interest in operating and securing the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); data you send voluntarily are processed to respond to your request (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).
The hosting provider and the content delivery network may process data in countries outside the European Economic Area; where this occurs, it takes place under the safeguards provided by Chapter V of the GDPR (adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses).
Your rights
Under Articles 15–22 of the GDPR you may request access to your personal data, their rectification or erasure, the restriction of processing, object to processing, and receive your data in a portable format. Requests may be addressed to the contact above.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian supervisory authority — Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali (www.garanteprivacy.it).
